The project is be driven by the core principles of prioritizing Resource Recovery and Decentralized Waste Management in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.  This approach is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, this project aims to fulfil the SDGs of, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and SDG 13: Climate action and SDG 15: Life on land.  

The program aims to not only set up the required infrastructure for waste collection and processing but also bring about the necessary behaviour change towards responsible consumption, waste reduction and source segregation of waste to ensure up to 90% resource recovery and drive the circular economy model for sustainable living. 

 

Key interventions under this project are:

  • Source segregation through community mobilization 
  • To have a decentralised waste management 
  • Resource recovery operations
