Bengaluru Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBBP), located in the pristine surroundings of Bannerghatta, a peri-urban locality of Bengaluru is home to one of India’s most diverse bio reserves, encompassing a wide variety of flora and fauna. Saahas is currently working on a waste management project at the park with the following objectives:
●Providing a scientific end destination to the waste being generated within the park (wet waste composting) and in the vendor area (wet and dry waste).
●Creating awareness on the importance of segregation of waste and harms of single use plastic within the park premise.
●Streamline and quantify waste collection within the park.
Key interventions under this project are:
•Phased collection and handling of waste within the park and in the vendor area, curbing plastic use to the minimum.
•Systemic awareness to visitors and periodic capacity building of waste collection staff (BBBP) on solid waste management.
